Energy Equilibrium, that’s what.
We’re all energy. We all maintain a delicate energetic vibration that results in a sense of balance – energetic equilibrium – so to speak. When that equilibrium gets disrupted, we feel out of kilter, out of balance, out of whack. It sucks.
So how does this happen? And more importantly, what can we do about it?
We are constantly coming into contact with other energies. We bump up against people and things and they all have their own energetic signature. Most of the time, our equilibrium is solid and other energies don’t affect it.
But if we have other things going on that impact the stability of our energy, our own base, then we are vulnerable to being impacted by others.
- If you didn’t get enough sleep the night before, your energetic stance is going to be less stable.
- If you haven’t eaten, or eaten too much of the wrong thing, your stance can be wobbly.
- If you are feeling vulnerable, or stressed or lonely, or experiencing any other taxing emotional state, it’s going to affect your energetic stance.
Think of a table. If one leg is missing, the table is not stable; it’s more easily tipped over when it gets bumped. This is what happens to you if you are out of energetic equilibrium.
Let’s continue with our hypothetical situation. Along comes your boss, and he questions why you haven’t finished that report yet; you know, the one he just asked you to write yesterday. In an unstable stance, your energetic vibration gets knocked down to a lower level.
You end up feeling stressed, beating yourself up for not getting that report written immediately. You grab the closest bag of chocolate to soothe your frayed nerves.
You may feel angry with your boss for demanding too much from you.
You may take your frustrations out on a co-worker.
You add a large fry and side of guilt to that bag of chocolate.
You see where I’m going with this. We’ve all experienced this kind of scenario before. We’ve all gone into an energy spiral.
So what do you do to prevent it?
There’s really nothing new in this list. It’s the same things we do to maintain optimal health for all our systems – mind, body and spirit.
- Get plenty of rest.
- Eat healthy, nourishing foods.
- Maintain a spiritual practice.
- Find time for yourself.
I know, I’m still looking for that magic pill. In the meantime, these things work.
You can do all these things and still experience an energy whammy. What do you do then?
One of the easiest things is to breathe. Take three really deep breaths through your nose. It’s a great start to regaining your equilibrium.
And if that doesn’t do it, find a quiet spot and sit for 5 minutes, breathing. Even better go outside and breath. If you can, take your shoes off and connect with the earth. Or find a window with a great view. Just looking at plants has been found to be very calming.
The point is, find a way to come back to yourself. Bringing your awareness back to your energy can help establish equilibrium; it can help you get back to your unique vibration. And things will begin to feel better. Like so many things in life, it comes down to awareness and choice – recognizing that your equilibrium is out of balance and then choosing to get it back on track.
